On this interesting tour, between the Inner Alster Lake and the Elbe River, we explore Hamburg's Old Town and New Town. Hardly anyone calls it "Old Town," because not much of it actually remains. The Great Fire and the cholera epidemic in the 19th century were to blame for this. The tour begins at the majestic Town Hall.
Then it's off to the shopping mile, Mönckebergstraße, St. Peter's Church, and Domplatz. This is where the adventure known as Hamburg probably began, with Hammaburg Castle.

Hamburg's Central Park
Our tour ends at the Michel. From here, it's not far to Hamburg's most beautiful green space: Planten un Blomen. Rocks, waterfalls, and a teahouse—the Japanese garden offers a peaceful place to reflect on nature. The park features a huge playground, and between May and September, the romantic water light show takes place on the lake—our insider tip for romantics!
Michel
landmark
We Hamburgers love our St. Michael's Church, built on the highest elevation near the harbor. A visit to the church with its viewing platform is, of course, a must-see for any tourist. You can also check out the Krameramtsstuben, a charming alleyway dating back to the 17th century. And when you're hungry, don't miss the fine Hanseatic cuisine.
Good morning
Eat like sailors
Admittedly, Labskaus looks a bit daunting, hence the name: "lobs-course," a meal for rough sailors. The best Labskaus, of course, can only be found at your local restaurant, but the Old Commercial Room restaurant certainly holds its own.
